West Cork Sailing Centre & Wild Atlantic Wildlife

Kayak with the seals and encounter West Cork’s wildlife in Adrigole harbour, a short and spectacularly scenic drive from Glengarriff.

Adrigole harbour on the Beara peninsula, overlooked by Hungry Hill, is home to a colony of seals and a variety of sea birds. It is a safe setting for taking to the water for the first time with family or friends. Or, If you’re ready for a bigger adventure, step on board a comfortable yacht for certified sail training with the experienced West Cork Sailing Centre team.

You can also charter a boat to explore the stunning coastline of Cork and Kerry, its bays, peninsulas, and islands.

Adrigole is a wonderful place to start connecting with the beauty and the wildlife on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way.

Kayak with the Seals

Rent a kayak, canoe or rowing boat and paddle in the sheltered waters of Adrigole Harbour. You’ll be sure to meet the local grey seals! And they make for friendly companions as you explore Adrigole’s gentle waters and rugged shoreline, with Hungry Hill forming a spectacular backdrop to your adventure!

A full range of wetsuits are available to suit all ages. Buoyancy aids are also supplied. (Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. Do get in touch if you have any questions about the experience).

Have a Wild Atlantic Sailing Adventure

Sail away on ‘Jessy of Adrigole’ with marine biologist skipper Niall McAllister to explore the wildlife of the Cork and Kerry coast. Join the Wild Atlantic Wildlife yacht with friends for 1/2 a day, or charter a sailing boat for a 3- to 14-day live-aboard holiday.

Learn to Cruise in West Cork

Sign up for certified cruising training with the West Cork Sailing Centre. Choose a 5-day live-aboard Competent Crew, Day Skipper, or Coastal Skipper training programme, and you will learn your sailing skills with expert support in Bantry Bay and out along the Cork and Kerry coastline.

How to Get Here

Adrigole is a 15-minute drive from Glengarriff village. Plenty of parking is available at the West Cork Sailing Centre, and you can also reach us using the 236 Cork-Castletownbere bus (Ask to get off the bus at the Adrigole GAA Pitch).
