Gaddin Abt Garinish

This swim around Garnish Island in Glengarriff Harbour in beautiful West Cork is one of the most stunning and safest island circumnavigation swims in Ireland. It is set in a beautiful post-glacial landscape in the sheltered clear waters of the northeast corner of Bantry Bay surrounded by the rugged mountains of the Beara Peninsula and teaming with water wildlife.

It will take place on the 20th August 2016 at 6pm at Ellens Rock. The Entry Fee is €26.20, which includes €1.20 Transaction Fee, this covers the swim entry and a post-swim meal at Jack’s Restaurant in Glengarriff.

You can choose to swim various distances from 1k to 7k, offering an entry level to Open Water Swimming as well as an excellent chance for the Intermediate and Expert swimmers to start the new season in style. A new 4 lap 9k option will be on offer for the first time in 2016.

In consultation with the local Wild Life Ranger the GADD has moved to August to protect the local seal population while their cubs are young in June and July. Also the time from previous events has now been moved back, the swim will now start at 6pm.

Mark your diaries, if you love your swimming this is the one for you.
