The Blue Pool Ferry
The Blue Pool Ferry Company runs a comfortable and safe passenger boat service to and from Garinish Island, or Illnacullin as it is also known, for the full length of the tourist season. Operating a ferry service leaving the Blue Pool approximately every 30 minutes, the boat trip takes about 15 minutes one way to Garnish Island. The crossing allows a unique perspective of the beautiful sheltered harbour and the surrounding landscapes and also the chance to observe and photograph the seals in their natural habitat.
The Blue Pool Ferry operates from the Blue Pool which is in the centre of Glengarriff Village, next to Quills Woolen Market and across the road from the GlenAran Irish Market and Glengarriff Park Hotel. The Blue Pool itself, which is where you will board the ferry, is set in an area of woodland with a labyrinth of walks and picnic points by the water’s edge.
